The Milliners
Forest Row
2006
This site next to the village church, one of the last remaining within the development boundary, proved impossible for mainstream house builders to apply their standard house plans to, being very restricted and steeply sloped. This presented the opportunity for a more unconventional design approach. Two studio flats and two maisonettes are contained within the main block with bridge access to all four. A small two bedroomed gate house at the entrance to the communal parking area, shields the site from a major road. The construction involved the use of salvaged materials (the clay roof tiles) and local stone (from Lambs quarry at West Hoathly).
